The Amazing Race 13 Episode Recaps

Over at the Reality TV Shows Blog, Paz has some short recaps of a few episodes of Season 13. He calls these short posts "Amazing Race Recaplets."

The Amazing Race 13 Cast Announced

The Amazing Race 13 cast has been announced. Perhaps the most notable name announced is former NFL and Washington State football player Ken Greene, who is partnering with his estranged wife. It seems the last time he was in the news he was being fired as a Washington State coach for misconduct.

Ken Greene played 7 seasons in the NFL as a safety, spending 5 of those seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals. After his career ended he was a college position coach for several seasons at Washington State, Fresno State, and Purdue.

In addition this season of the Amazing Race includes the usual suspects in its lisk of couple: Fraternity Brothers, the New Couple, divorcee friends, geeks, marrieds, mother/son, and brother/sister relationships.

Amazing Race, 5 Time Emmy Winner, Nominated again

The Amazing Race was yet again nominated for the Outstanding Reality Program. This is no surprise as this program has one five years in a row. While the ratings have not always been outstanding the critics and award givers love The Amazing Race.

As E!online put it

"It's a generally accepted Emmy truth that The Amazing Race is an unstoppable awards-show juggernaut, destined to crush any and all nominees on its way up to the podium."

And as The NY Times Blog explains, "
And despite the growth in the genre, the same shows seem to show up as nominees. This year in the “outstanding reality competition” category, the same five shows are nominated for a second year in a row."

That makes me think The Amazing Race deserved to win again, unless there was some great brealthrough on one of the other shows. IMO Amazing Race keeps going strong.

The Amazing Race Season 13 on CBS Fall 2008

The 13th season of The Amazing Race has made the Fall 2008 lineup of CBS. It will air Sundays at 8pm starting on September 28.

I had read some speculation about Amazing Race coming to an end. Due to the writer's strike an extra installment was ordered and will air this Fall. Beyond that I do not know.

The Amazing Race has never had great Nielson Ratings compared to other long running and popular reality tv shows. However it has managed to last a dozen seasons over 7+ years. Last season's ratings were solid, much better than the 2001-2002 seasons. If it survived the early years, I don't see why it would end at this point, but you never know.

TK Erwin and Rachel Rosales win Amazing Race 12th season

The 12th season of The Amazing Race concluded with couple TK Erwin and Rachel Rosales pulling off the win. The young couple from California, described as "hippies", managed to outlast 11 other teams to win this season's $1 million prize.
